Jamie Jay Johnson BIOGRAPHY

Jamie is a double BAFTA (Best New Director Factual 2004)(Best Reality & Constructed Factual 2012), triple Broadcast (Best New Director)(best drama series)(best TV moment 2017), British Comedy Award (best comedy entertainment series), British Independent Film Award (best Cinema Documentary), Grierson (Best Newcomer), National Television Award (best factual series) and RTS Award (best Popular Factual) nominated director based in London.

He makes affectionately comic films, television, animation and documentaries whose subjects have included medievally wooing Swedish Princesses, a love of Breakfast Cereals, a Holiday Around his Bedroom, the MiniGolf World Championships, Karl Pilkington Idiot Abroad'ing in Mexico, the USA and Japan, The Junior Eurovision Song Contest, the FreshMeat student houseshare, Cardinal Burns preening, people who own robot dogs and the slowest ever swimmer in Olympic history.

In 2014/15 Jamie directed C4's multi-award winning comedy drama Fresh Meat Series 4 after having directed episodes 5,6,7 and 8 of Fresh Meat series 3..

Jamie also directed this short starring Cardinal Burns for Mr Box

After graduating from St Martins School of Art and the NFTS Jamie won both BBC documentaries and Film4's feature development deals and was featured as a Screen International 'Star of Tomorrow'.

After its premiere at the Toronto international Film Festival, Jamie's first feature film 'Sounds Like Teen Spirit' was released in cinemas across the UK by Warner Music Entertainment before winning the Dinard International Film Festival Hitchcock D'Argent Audience Award. It was also nominated for a British Independent Film Award in the Best Cinema Documentary category.

Jamie is currently writing an action/comedy pilot with Kudos.
